Project Overview
Cheshire Ground Control was appointed by a commercial developer to deliver a complete groundworks package for a high quality block of 8 apartments in Congleton. Acting as the principal groundworks contractor, we provided a turnkey solution from initial site preparation through to completed structural groundworks, enabling a smooth transition into the superstructure phase.
Scope of Works
Our experienced in-house team delivered all aspects of the project, including:
- Site clearance and enabling works
- Bulk excavation and earthworks removing over 300 tons
- Cut and fill operations to achieve correct site levels
- Foundations and structural footings
- Drainage installation following completion of footings
- Underground utilities and service coordination
- Block and beam flooring
- Concrete slabs and structural floors
- Construction of internal access roads
- Tarmac car park construction including kerbing and drainage
- Full hard and soft landscaping package, including paving, edging, and final ground finishes
Managing the entire scope under one contractor ensured consistency, quality control, and programme certainty.
Project Challenges
The project required careful coordination due to varying ground levels and the need to integrate structural groundworks with roads, car parking, and landscaping works. Maintaining access and sequencing trades effectively was critical to keeping the commercial programme on track.
Our Approach
Cheshire Ground Control implemented a structured construction programme using modern plant, skilled operatives, and proactive site management. Following completion of the footings, drainage systems were installed to specification before progressing to structural floors. Roads and car parks were constructed once heavy groundworks were complete, followed by a comprehensive landscaping package to deliver a high-quality finished environment.
Health & safety, quality control, and compliance with engineering specifications were maintained throughout.
